Privacy policy
This policy explains what Beerable stores about you, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it and how to delete it. Beerable is run by Tony Jara ("we"), who decides how this data is used. Questions: support@beerableapp.com.
What we store
Your account:
- Your name and email address, which Google or Apple give us when you sign in, and the id of your account with that provider. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only receive the relay address.
- Your Google profile picture, if you have one, until you change it.
- Your date of birth and country, to check the legal drinking age. Your date of birth is never shown to anyone.
- The username, display name, bio and language you choose.
- Your sign-in sessions: the name of the device and when it was last used.
What you post:
- Posts: the beer, your rating and review, how it was served and the place, if you type one, with the date and time.
- Photos: your phone makes them smaller before uploading them and removes the location and other hidden data. We never receive the original photo.
- Comments, likes ("Salud" in the app), follows, blocks and reports.
- The beers and breweries you add or edit.
Your device and how you use the app:
- A push notification token from Apple for each device, with the app version and language, to send you the notifications you turned on.
- Your notification settings.
- Analytics events: which screens you open and what you do in the app (for example, creating a post), with the device model and system version, linked to your account. We use them to understand and improve the app.
- Crash and error reports: what went wrong, the device model, and the system and app versions.
- Server logs: your IP address and the requests your device makes, used to limit abuse, keep the service secure and fix problems.
We do not collect your precise location, your contacts, your photo library (only the photo you pick) or data from other apps. We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
What other people see
Other users see your username, display name, profile picture, bio, posts (with the place, if you typed one), photos, comments, likes, who you follow and who follows you, and the beers and breweries you added. Nobody sees your email address or your date of birth.
What we use it for
- To run your account and show what you post.
- To check the legal drinking age.
- To send you the notifications you chose.
- To keep Beerable safe: moderation, usage limits, the word filter and bans.
- To understand how the app is used and to fix errors.
We do not sell your data, we do not show ads or use your data for ads, and we do not send marketing email.
Who processes it for us
- Hostinger: the server where the Beerable API and database run.
- Cloudflare: stores and serves the photos (R2).
- Backblaze: stores the daily backups of the database.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, push notifications and distribution on the App Store.
- Google: Google sign-in.
- Sentry: crash and error reports.
- PostHog: usage analytics.
Each of them uses the data only to provide its service to us. Some of them process it outside your country, for example in the United States. Apple and Google have their own privacy policies for the accounts you use with them.
How long we keep it
- Your account data and what you post: for as long as you have the account.
- When you delete a post or a comment, it disappears from the app at once and its photo is deleted. The text stays stored, visible only to moderators, until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account in the app, your sessions end at once, and shortly after your profile, posts, photos, comments, likes, follows, notifications, devices and the links to your Google or Apple account are deleted. If you used Apple, we also revoke Beerable's access with Apple.
- Beers and breweries you added stay in the catalogue, without your name.
- Database backups are deleted after 30 days.
- Deletion requests made on the web are completed within 30 days.
- Analytics events and crash reports stay with PostHog and Sentry for each service's retention period, and are then deleted.
- Server logs are kept for a short time and then deleted automatically.
- If you are under the age for your country when you sign up, we delete what you entered at once.
Your choices and rights
- You can change your profile, your posts and your notification settings in the app.
- You can delete posts, comments and your account at any time.
- You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it or to delete it: write to support@beerableapp.com from your account's email address. We answer within 30 days.
- You can turn off push notifications in the iOS Settings, or by type inside the app.
- Depending on where you live, the law may give you other rights over your data; write to us to use them.
Minors
Beerable is only for people of legal drinking age, and never for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly keep data about minors: the age check deletes it at sign-up, and if we learn of an account that belongs to a minor, we delete it. You can tell us at support@beerableapp.com.
Changes to this policy
If we change something that matters, we tell you in the app before it takes effect.
